STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math - for students. "
Put simply, STEAM Team's mission is to level the playing field. Allow us to elaborate. Research led us to find that students turn away these subjects as early as third grade, before they even start middle school. STEAM Team is made up of high school student teachers from all over the Bay Area. These students teach after school STEAM classes to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders twice a month and design experiments that connect to STEAM subjects. Through innovative experiments and a carefully designed curriculum, students are exposed to the arts and sciences before they reach middle school, instilling a love and curiosity for science, technology, engineering, art, and math in them. The idea is to make education an equal opportunity for everyone and to give every kid we can the same opportunities and resources as their more priveleged peers. The idea is that any school that asks for a STEAM education can get it, without any difficulties. On a more personal level, we want to train kids to be independent of their education and take charge of their learning - we teach them to ask questions and get the most out of their own education by fostering a love for learning through STEAM subjects.
