STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math - for students. "
STEAM Team is designed to close the minority and gender gap in science, tech, and art interests amongst youth in the Bay Area. With our research, we found that students turn away these subjects as early as third grade, before they even start middle school. The STEAM Team is made up of high school student teachers from all over the Bay Area. These dedicated students teach after school STEAM classes to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders twice a month and design experiments that connect to STEAM subjects. Through innovative experiments and a carefully designed curriculum, students are exposed to the arts and sciences before they reach middle school, instilling a love and curiosity for science, technology, engineering, art, and math in them. STEAM's programs are in multiple elementary schools in the Bay Area. Our team’s goal is to make STEAM education equally accessible to every student in California and to ultimately change the disparity between genders and minorities in science and tech jobs. The idea is that any school that asks for a STEAM education can get it, without any difficulties. The network of student teachers and STEAM schools continues to grow every year, with more and more children’s lives being changed.
