As the United States recently became the country with the most novel coronavirus cases, some companies have taken initiatives to help try to alleviate the issue. One such company, Apple, released an application and website yesterday that help Americans determine whether they may have the disease. These two utilize recommendations made by the CDC to help guide Americans on what steps should be taken during these troubling times. Furthermore, the application has a screening tool that asks for the user’s symptoms to see if they may be showing signs of COVID-19. Besides making the website and app, Apple also plans to be donating several million face masks to hospitals throughout America and Europe. Another company that has taken action to help inform people about the novel coronavirus is Google. One week ago, Google released a website, google.com/covid19, which gives information about the coronavirus, such as how to prevent it, what the symptoms are, and how it spreads. Additionally, it has links to the CDC’s website which has a coronavirus self-checker to see if your symptoms are indicative of COVID-19. The company will also donate over $800 million to help businesses and hospitals. It is impressive that these companies are taking action to help people, and hopefully, other companies will follow suit in order to spread awareness and help those who may struggle during these times.
